Our Story

In the Spring of 2019 after nearly 7 years of serving as a pastor at Mission Bible Church in Costa Mesa, California, Costi Hinn received a call from the elders of Redeemer Bible Church to join their staff, preach weekly, serve as an elder, and eventually plant a church in the Valley. After prayer and intentional discussion, the elders of Mission Bible Church affirmed the call and sent Costi to serve at Redeemer. With no formal timeline for church planting in place, the focus was on serving in the local church at Redeemer, and trusting the Lord to direct the process.

Over the course of 2 years (July 2019 to July 2021), Redeemer grew from a weekly attendance of 900 to 1800+, from 3 services to 5, from Sunday services to both Saturday and Sunday services, and the next-gen ministry that Costi preached in on a weekly basis grew from around 25 to over 200 in weekly attendance. While numerical growth is hardly the primary goal of our ministry, the numbers became indicative of space issues and provided methodological challenges as well. As the elders at Redeemer sought to mitigate those rapid growth challenges through overflow video venues, and online church options, they continued to pray and assess the New Testament pattern of church planting. Before long, it was joyfully decided that the time for Costi to lead a church plant had come.

Plans Unfold

The team formed quickly and organically as Sean Colelli (worship director at Redeemer for 3 years), and Brett McIntosh (moved from Mission Bible Church to serve at Redeemer in 2020 after serving with Costi there for 5 years) both expressed a whole-hearted commitment to join the church plant core team. The elders announced the church plant internally in the Spring of 2021 and were unanimous in their support of sending people and resources to help launch The Shepherd's House in Chandler by February of 2022.

The rest of the story is yet to be written, but we are excited to see what God has in store for His glory, and the good of His church.
