Caring for the Body of Christ, One Need at a Time
"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2
Mission
At Shepherd’s House Bible Church, the Care Ministry exists to serve our church family—walking with those in our community through seasons of hardship, celebration, and everything in between. Rooted in Scripture and led by compassion, this ministry is about coming alongside our members of SHBC and those closely connected to the body in practical, thoughtful, and Spirit-led ways.
Ways to Get Involved
The Care Ministry comprises several teams, offering numerous opportunities to serve. Whether you’re gifted in hospitality, encouragement, logistics, or simply showing up, there’s a place for you.
-
Provide meals for families recovering from surgery, illness, childbirth, hardships, or loss. Whether you cook from scratch or can pick up dinner on the way, this is a simple and heartfelt way to serve.
-
Join us in preparing thoughtful baskets to bless those experiencing life’s highs and lows—new births, weddings, bereavement, and more. Each basket is a reminder that no one walks alone.
-
Sometimes the ministry of presence is the most powerful. Visit, pray with, and encourage those in recovery or facing medical challenges, offering peace and support simply by being there.
-
Help with collecting and distributing essential items during our twice-a-year Community Closet events. This is a tangible way to meet needs while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for SHBC families.
-
From lifting boxes to loading and unloading U-Hauls, this practical ministry serves those in transition, especially the elderly, single parents, and individuals facing unexpected life changes. Whether it’s organizing a team or showing up with a willing heart, your help makes a real difference in a stressful time.
-
Love to bake? Use your gift to bless others through baking goods, church events, or to brighten someone’s day during a tough season.
-
Be a source of encouragement to SHBC families who are currently fostering, have adopted, or are pursuing the call to do so. This could include meals, prayer, childcare, or providing support in other practical ways. Whether they are just starting the journey or already in the thick of it, your care can help carry the load.
-
This ministry comes alongside expecting mothers, especially first-time moms, with encouragement, prayer, and practical support. We offer informational resources and classes designed to provide prenatal guidance, biblical encouragement, and practical considerations for pregnancy and motherhood, all with a prayerful perspective. Whether it’s through shared wisdom, check-ins, or preparing for a baby's arrival, we seek to walk with moms through this joyful and sacred season of life.
Join the Team
You don’t need a special title to serve—just a heart willing to say “yes.” Whether you can give a few hours a month or be available for occasional needs, your presence matters; every act of love, however small, reflects the heart of Christ and strengthens the body.
Important Note:
This ministry is dedicated to caring for SHBC members and those closely affiliated with the church. We kindly ask that requests for care come through existing relationships within the church to help us steward our resources and serve with intentionality.
